He was born in California on February 12, 1951. During the summer, Parent met William Garretson, who was the caretaker at a house at 10050 Cielo Drive in Benedict Canyon, which, at the time, was being rented by director Roman Polanski, and his wife, actress Sharon Tate. He got interested in filmmaking from the earliest years and it was his mother, who helped her son to develop his talent. In June 1969, he graduated from Arroyo High School with plans to attend Citrus Junior College in Azusa, California, the following September. After they killed Steven Parent, who had been trying to sell a clock radio to the estate's caretaker, they went inside and killed Sharon and her friends. One of his sisters, Nancy Spielberg, is the owner of Movie Company, named Playmount Productions, now. When Parent was visiting 10050 Cielo Drive's landlord and Hollyweird talent agent Rudy Altobelli's kept boy William Garretson in the "guest house," he received a call there from Gerrold, who asked Parent to drive down the hill to that little park and fountain where the famous "Beverly Hills" sign is located on Santa Monica and Doheny, to "pick up a friend."
